Formaldehyde free MDF 3D puzzle

Recently, some customers have been asking me, "What is formaldehyde free MDF and why is it a concern to empathize in your product, Topozoo?"

Like my customers, I was only introduce to this word "formaldehyde" last year. It happened when I wanted to buy a wooden bookshelf and learnt that the material is using MDF. As a curious me, I did a google search and read some information from a UK website http://www.childrensfurniture.co.uk/mdf.html As the kiasu me, I decided to drop the idea of purchase.

When I first spotted Topozoo, I was really happy that they use formaldehyde free MDF to make their animal puzzles. This product is not only durable, made to last but it's also making a statement to use safe materials for children products.

Below is a short description of formaldehyde which I found from National Cancer Institute:

Formaldehyde is a colorless, flammable, strong smelling chemical that is used in building materials and to produce many household products. It is used in pressed-wood products such as particleboard, plywood and fiberboard; glue and adhesives; permanent-press fabric; paper products coating and certain insulation materials. In addition, formaldehyde is commonly ised as an industrial fungicide, germicide and disinfectant and as a preservative in mortuaries and medical laboratories. Formaldehyde also occurs naturally in the environment. It is produced in small amount by most living organisms as part of normal metabolic processes.

Basically, we can't eliminate formaldehyde. I guess the only way is to minimize purchase made of MDF  for home products and preschools (as kids are more vulnerable) Just my two cents worth.

What's your opinion?
